ALIANDO

AWS to Azure Migration for a HealthTech Leader

Overview

A global leader in wearable digital health technology supporting clinical research with FDA‑cleared, medical‑grade devices and remote monitoring platforms. The organization captures real‑world data on sleep, physical activity, and mobility and required a secure, scalable cloud platform to support continued growth and innovation.

The Challenge

Following a recent acquisition, the organization needed to modernize its cloud strategy to support scalability, cost optimization, and future analytics initiatives. Key challenges included:

  • Migrating a newly acquired on‑premises platform to the cloud

  • Replacing inflexible infrastructure that limited future growth

  • Preparing the environment for advanced analytics and AI workloads

  • Reducing dependency on AWS with a phased roadmap to Azure

 The Solution

ALIANDO delivered a Microsoft‑led Azure migration and optimization engagement designed to support both immediate operational needs and long‑term innovation goals, including:

  • Migration of the acquired platform from AWS and on‑premises to Microsoft Azure

  • Architecture design and cost modeling aligned with clinical workload demands

  • Joint scoping and quota planning with Microsoft

  • Enablement through Azure Accelerate and Azure Credit Offers

  • A phased roadmap for migrating additional workloads from AWS to Azure

Services Used
  • Azure compute services

  • Azure storage services

  • Batch compute workloads (East US)

  • Azure governance and cost‑optimization tooling

  • Azure foundation for future data analytics and AI workloads

Customization
  • Resource mapping and architecture design using Block64

  • Custom cost‑optimization and scalability planning

  • Quota adjustments for batch compute to meet clinical workloads

  • Tailored migration roadmap aligned to growth and regulatory requirements

Outcomes

The initial migration generated approximately $1.4M in Azure Annual Contract Revenue and resulted in a successful production deployment on Microsoft Azure. The environment was optimized for compute and storage efficiency, with an additional $600K–$800K in Azure ACR identified as part of the next AWS‑to‑Azure migration phase. The organization is now positioned to adopt advanced analytics and AI services natively on Azure.

Business Impact

By transitioning from AWS to Microsoft Azure with ALIANDO, the organization gained a modern, scalable cloud foundation designed for performance, cost control, and innovation. The new platform supports current clinical workloads while enabling future expansion into analytics and AI without being constrained by legacy infrastructure decisions.
